Problem statement

Language learners often have limited access to realistic speaking practice, especially in structured learning environments where time constraints and large group sizes restrict individual conversation opportunities. Traditional classroom instruction frequently prioritises grammar and vocabulary knowledge, while learners struggle to transfer these skills into confident, real-life communication. This challenge is particularly visible at scale in public education systems and institutional settings, where educators must support diverse learner needs, monitor progress, and maintain consistent quality of instruction across multiple classrooms and schools. Xeropan addresses this gap by integrating AI-supported speaking simulations into a CEFR-aligned curriculum (A1–C1). Learners practice authentic communicative situations such as daily interactions, travel-related conversations, workplace communication, and professional scenarios (e.g., healthcare, business, IT, law). The simulations adapt to learner responses and provide immediate feedback, supporting fluency development and confidence-building. To ensure transparency and institutional usability, Xeropan provides structured reporting and monitoring metrics that help educators evaluate engagement and progress, intervene early, and improve learning outcomes at scale.

Submission Overview

Xeropan is an AI-powered language learning platform officially recognised and widely used worldwide in public education systems. Prior to national deployment, Xeropan underwent rigorous evaluation by the Hungarian Ministry of Education, demonstrating strong alignment with the CEFR (A1–C1), pedagogical integrity, technological reliability, and cybersecurity compliance. As a result, Xeropan became an endorsed digital solution for language education in Hungarian public schools. Xeropan delivers a comprehensive curriculum that combines vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and video-based lessons with AI-driven speaking simulations that replicate real-life communication. Learners can practice authentic scenarios such as booking a hotel, negotiating a business deal, attending academic seminars, or navigating medical conversations. Beyond general language courses, Xeropan also provides specialised professional modules (e.g., Medical English, Business English, Engineering English, IT English, Legal English, Veterinary English, Hospitality and Tourism English) supporting learners who need domain-specific terminology and applied communication skills. Each specialised course includes approximately 2,000–2,500 field-specific terms and scenario-based practice. Xeropan supports institutional use cases through structured onboarding, teacher training, and reporting that includes engagement metrics, learning time, lesson completion, test outcomes, and learner progress across CEFR levels. This enables educators and institutional stakeholders to monitor performance transparently and intervene where necessary. With over 3 million learners across 170 countries and a 4.8-star average rating, Xeropan combines government-grade institutional credibility with scalable AI-driven language education to support learners, educators, and public systems.

Implementation Context

Xeropan has international usage across multiple regions through mobile and web access. It has nationwide public education deployment in Hungary, including integration into the KRÉTA Idegennyelvi Felkészítő Modul (IFM), the national public-education language platform. Beyond Hungary, deployment is at an earlier stage: pilot and distributor discussions are underway in Central Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and a tender has been submitted, with an education consortium, for a government-linked West African workforce upskilling programme delivering digital German-language instruction (CEFR A0–B1/B2) to approximately 5,000 adult learners.
